THE BASICS

What Is an E-Invoice?

An e-invoice is a GST invoice whose details are reported to the government's Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) in a standard format. The portal checks the data and returns a unique Invoice Reference Number (IRN) and a digitally signed QR code, which are printed on your invoice.

It is not just a PDF of a normal invoice. For businesses covered by e-invoicing, an invoice without a valid IRN and QR code may not be treated as valid for GST, which can affect your customer's input tax credit. Billing Saathi prepares the details from your invoice, so there is nothing to type twice.

Limits, deadlines and rules can change. Always check the latest official GST notifications for your case.
